Is Robbins Basic or Robbins Pathologic Basis better?
Basic is the shorter, USMLE-focused version. Pathologic Basis is the full reference (~1,500 pages) and is what residents and pathologists use. Basic is the right choice for Step 1.
Can I skip Robbins and just use Pathoma?
Many students do and still pass Step 1. Robbins matters more if you want top-decile scores or are competing for pathology or surgical residencies where shelf-exam depth is scored.
