Digital SAT is shorter, adaptive, and computer-based. Ellie decks target the vocabulary, grammar, and math rules the new format still tests.
The College Board fully transitioned the SAT to a digital, computer-adaptive format in 2024. The exam is now about 2 hours 14 minutes (down from 3 hours), delivered on the Bluebook app, and adaptive by module (second module difficulty depends on first module performance). Scoring stays 400–1600. Content still tests reading comprehension, grammar, and math — just faster.

Reading and Writing — grammar rules
The digital SAT combines Reading and Writing into one section with shorter passages. Grammar rules (subject-verb agreement, pronoun-antecedent, parallelism, comma splices, semicolons vs colons) are flashcard-friendly and heavily tested.
Math — formulas and standard results
SAT math includes a formula reference sheet, but relying on it costs time. Cards on the formulas free reasoning time for the actual problem.

Vocabulary in context
Post-redesign, isolated vocab questions are gone. But 'word in context' items still appear. A 300-word high-frequency deck of common tested words is enough.

Is the digital SAT easier?
Shorter but comparably difficult. Adaptive scaling means the second module can be much harder if you did well on the first.
SAT or ACT?
Roughly interchangeable for admissions. Some students score better on one; take a practice test of each to compare.
Is Khan Academy still the best free resource?
Khan Academy remains the College Board's official partner. Combine with Ellie for the retention layer.
How does Ellie handle math problem-solving?
Ellie handles the formula and rule recall. Actual problem-solving practice is Bluebook and Khan Academy.
Can I still take the paper SAT?
International administrations transitioned earlier; US administrations transitioned March 2024. Paper is no longer offered as of 2024+.
